Description

School Board Members establish a shared vision for the schools that they represent which reflects a consensus of the board, community and district staff. The school board has a wide variety of additional responsibilities, such as adopting annual budgets and issuing interim financial reports, adopting the school calendar, negotiating contracts with employees (including the hiring of superintendents), approving curriculum materials and closing or constructing schools.

Application Guidelines

To file for this position, follow these three simple steps: 1) Go to the Sacramento County elections deparmtent site specifically for candidates, found here http://www.elections.saccounty.net/CampaignServices/Pages/How-to-run-for-Elected-Office.aspx 2) If you are filing for a county level, school board, or special district position, contact the Sacraamento County elections department to verify that you qualify for the position you seek. Most positions have residential requirements (must be a U.S. Citizen and usually be a registered voter in the district for at least 30 days) and some have professional requirements (like for District Attorney). If seeking a city office, contact the City Clerk of the city you are interested in running in and verify that your address and length of residence in district is correct for the position. 3) Complete the required filing paperwork as directed by the City Clerk or County Elections department to run for the office you are interested in, and make sure to submit the paperwork within the filing window (for most CA elections there is a filing window of 25 days, which is 113-88 days prior to the election).
