Description

The Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office is the primary law enforcement agency for Palm Beach County, and is responsible for law enforcement services in the county, as well as coordinating with municipal police forces when appropriate. The Sheriff is responsible for administering the Palm Beach County Sheriff's Office Department of Corrections (commonly known as the county jail), which is one of the largest jail systems in the United States. The Palm Beach County Sheriff is elected to a four year term with no term limits.

Application Guidelines
In order to be a candidate for this position, please follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the election administrator (for city/town/village positions the city clerk, and for all others, the Palm Beach County Supervisor of Elections) to make sure you qualify for the position. Certain positions have residency, professional certification, and other requirements. 2) Fill out the necessary documents, which may include the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository (DS-DE9) Statement of Candidacy (DS-DE 84 form) with the qualifying officer, and Candidate Oath of Nonpartisan Office (DS-DE 25). WARNING: Some filings may only be accepted until noon on the day filing ends, so contact the election administrator to verify the time filing closes. Some positions may requre a candidacy fee. Be mindful about the filing window as it is often brief and late papers will not be accepted.
