Description

The mission of the Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District is to provide information about best management practices to conserve and protect natural resources to private land users and water consumers. The Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District is a subdivision of the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumers Services (FDACS). Throughout the State of Florida, individual Soil and Water Conservation Districts act as a liaison between government agencies, private organizations and the public at large in carrying out their mission. The Orange County Soil and Water Conservation District board consists of 5 elected non-partisan supervisors who are non-salaried public officials. The Soil and Water Conservation District is not funded by any tax dollars and currently relies solely on donations for financial support.

Application Guidelines
In order to be a candidate for this position, please follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the election administrator (for city positions the city clerk, and for all others, the Orange County Supervisor of Elections) make sure you qualify for the position. Certain positions have residency and other requirements. 2) Fill out the necessary documents, including the Statement of Candidacy (DS-DE 84 form) and Statement of Financial Interests (DS-DE 9 form). The office is open Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm EST. Be mindful about the filing window as it is open for only five consecutive days sometime in June, and the dates vary based on the election date.
