Orlando City Commissioner, District 3

Description

Members of the Orlando City Council are the Mayor, elected at-large, and six City Commissioners who are elected from respective districts. All are elected for four-year terms. The Orlando City Commissioners establish policies and programs and appropriating funds for each city service function. The City Commission approves all ordinances, resolutions and contracts, reviews proposals for community needs, initiates actions for new programs and determines the level of funding for services and facilities.

Application Guidelines

In order to be a candidate for this position, please follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the election administrator (for city municipalities, contact the city clerk, and for all other offices, contact the Orange County Supervisor of Elections) make sure you qualify for the position. Certain positions have residency and other requirements. 2) Fill out the necessary documents, including the Statement of Candidacy (DS-DE 84 form), and Candidate Oath of Nonpartisan Office (DS-DE 25) and Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository form (DS-DE 9). Orange Ave., Orlando,Florida, 32801. During the qualifying period, you must pay a candidacy fee. The office is open Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm EST. Be mindful about the filing window as it is open for only five consecutive days sometime in September, and the dates vary based on the election date.
