Description

The City of Apopka elects at large four City Commissioners. The Apopka City Commissioners shall establish policies and programs and appropriate funds for each city service function. The Apopka City Commission also approves all ordinances, resolutions and contracts, reviews proposals for community needs, initiates actions for new programs and determines the level of funding for services and facilities.

Application Guidelines
In order to be a candidate for this position, please follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the election administrator (for city municipalities, contact the city clerk, and for all other offices, contact the Orange County Supervisor of Elections) make sure you qualify for the position. Certain positions have residency and other requirements. 2) Fill out the necessary documents, including the Statement of Candidacy (DS-DE 84 form), and Candidate Oath of Nonpartisan Office (DS-DE 25) and Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository form (DS-DE 9). During the qualifying period, you must pay a candidacy fee. The office is open Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm EST. Be mindful about the filing window as it is open for only five consecutive days sometime in January, and the dates vary based on the election date.
