Description

The Hillsborough County Tax Collector office collects and distributes local property, business and tourist development taxes. It also collects motor vehicle, vessel, and mobile home feeds, conduct road tests and issue registrations, titles, driver licenses and certified copies of Florida birth certificates. The money collected helps support schools, parks, roads libraries, waterways, and transit systems. The County Tax Collector is an elected position that serves a term of four years in office.

Application Guidelines

In order to be a candidate for this position, please follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the election administrator (for city positions the city clerk, and for all others, the Hillsborough Supervisor of Elections) make sure you qualify for the position. Certain positions have residency and other requirements. 2) Fill out the necessary documents, including the Appointment of Campaign Treasurer and Designation of Campaign Depository (DS-DE9) Statement of Candidacy (DS-DE 84 form) with the qualifying officer, and Candidate Oath of Nonpartisan Office (DS-DE 25). Kennedy Blvd., 16th floor, Tampa, Florida 33602. You must pay a petition for candidacy fee. The office is open Mondays to Fridays from 8am to 5pm EST. Be mindful about the filing window as it is open for only five consecutive days sometime in June, and the dates vary based on the election date.
