Description

The City Council is the elected policy-making body for the City of Concord. It is comprised of five members elected at-large who serve four-year overlapping terms. The Mayor is selected annually by the City Council from among its members. The City Council currently serves on five standing City Council Committees: Housing and Economic Development; Infrastructure and Franchise, Policy Development and Internal Operations; Recreation, Cultural Affairs and Community Services; and Youth and Education.

Application Guidelines

To file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the City Clerk at (925) 673-7300 or [email protected] to verify that your address qualifies for the position and that you meet any other candidacy requirements (for example, living within the district for a specified amount of time prior to the election). 2) Obtain the correct filing papers from the City Clerk and complete the paperwork required. It is understood that first time or beginning candidates may need someone to review the paperwork with them, so it is useful to stop by the office in person during normal business hours, or arrange a time that you can speak with someone while picking up the filing papers. We suggest asking additional questions regarding filing for office (like the amount of petition signatures, filing fees, or to double check filing windows/dates). After completing this paperwork and filing it with the elections office you will then appear on the ballot.
