Conejo RPD is governed by a directly elected Board of five Directors who generally meet twice a month. The meetings are open to the public; you are welcome to attend any time. The Board's mission is to enrich the quality of life for the community by preserving and enhancing recreational opportunities, parks and open space. To serve the community and be recognized as a top recreation and park district in the nation The Board must: be financially stable; be the primary source of leisure activities and services; match their programs and facilities to demographic needs; distinguish ConejoRPD as a leading partner with other agencies and organizations for recreation, park and open space needs; be an employer of choice; evaluate and leverage emerging opportunities, while maintaining facilities and infrastructure; update the Districts Strategic Plan annually; inform and educate about recreation, parks and open space; engage in, and promote, environmentally responsible and sustainable facilities and business practices.

Application Guidelines
To file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the Ventura County Elections Division office at (805) 654-2664 to verify that your address qualifies for the position and that you meet any other candidacy requirements (for example, living within the district for a specified amount of time prior to the election). 2) Obtain the correct filing papers from the county elections office. They may also be available at the City Clerks office. It is understood that first time or beginning candidates may need someone to review the paperwork with them, so it is useful to stop by the office in person during normal business hours, or arrange a time that you can speak with someone while picking up the filing papers. The California Secretary of State's Elections Division is also a great resource and can be reached at (916) 657-2166 or http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections 3) Submit the filing papers within 113-88 days prior to the election (most California elections use the 113-88 day filing window).
