Description

Responsibilities of the Treasurer's Office include tax billing and the collection, safeguarding, and disbursement of all city funds. The Treasurer works closely with the Commissioner of the Revenue, the Real Estate Assessor, and the Department of Finance to help ensure the best possible service to citizens. The treasurer serves a 4 year term.

Application Guidelines
To file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Read the candidate bulletin for the office you seek at http://www.elections.virginia.gov/candidatepac-info/candidate-bulletins/index.html. Verify that you qualify for the position. You must be a resident of the Commonwealth of Virginia for one year immediately preceding the election, and be resident of the City oFalls Church at the time of filing. Contact the the clerk of the city council to verify that you fulfill the requirements and to ask further questions. 2) Complete the appropriate filing papers, which can be found on the Department of Elections website herehttp://www.elections.virginia.gov/candidatepac-info/candidate-forms/index.html. City council candidates must complete the Certificate of Candidate Qualification, the Declaration of Candidacy form, the Petition of Qualified Voter form, the Statement of Economic Interests form, and the Statement of Organization form. 3) Submit these forms after January 1st of the election year and before the filing deadline in June to the Office of Voter Registration and Elections Falls Church 300 Park Ave Rm 101 E Falls Church, VA 22046-3301.
