The San Francisco Board of Supervisors is comprised of 11 Members, each of whom represent their respective districts. The Board serves as both a city and county legislative body due to the fact that San Francisco is the only consolidated city-county in California, meaning it is a lawful charter city and charter county, with the mayor serving as a county executive and the city council also serving as the board of supervisors. The Board of Supervisors acts as the city council, approving the city budget (after being proposed by the mayor), establishing city policies, adopting ordinances and resolutions, and assisting with key mayoral appointees. The Board of Supervisors are limited to two successive four-year terms in office and an officeholder must be out of office for four years before running again. The salary for a San Francisco Board Member is $113,851 per year.
