Description

The San Francisco City Treasurer serves as the City’s leading banker and and chief investment officer. The Treasurer is charged with managing all tax and revenue collection for the city. Primary responsibilities of the position include: coordinating, approving and executing all policies and procedures relating to the operations of the treasurer's office; achieving economies and/or preventing major losses through the direction of the proper handling and processing of large amounts of money and negotiable securities; making regular important contacts with responsible officials, governmental agencies and outside organizations relative to the responsibility of the office; directing the preparation and maintenance of detailed and important financial records and reports related to office operations. The treasurer serves a four-year term with no limit on the number of terms served. The salary of this position is $182,350 per year.

All candidate filings for all California positions are handled by the county elections office of the candidate's official residence. You should also verify that you meet any other requirements (for example, living within the district for a specified amount of time prior to the election). Most county elections departments understand that first time candidates may have some additional questions or concerns, and they will answer questions when you are picking up your paperwork, or will allow you to schedule an appointment to speak with someone. 2) Obtain the appropriate filing papers from the county elections office and complete the paperwork required. If there is any difficulty in connecting with this office, contact the California Secretary of State's Elections Division at (916) 657-2166 or http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections to help obtain the correct contact information for your county elections department. 3) Submit the candidacy papers within the 113-88 day filing window prior to the election. If you have any questions regarding running for this position, contact the San Francisco Board of Elections at (415) 554-4375 or http://sfgov.org/elections/ or the California Secretary of State Elections Division as soon as possible. There is a filing fee of $500, however if 1,000 signatures are gathered, the fee is waived. The filing fee is reduced by .50 for each valid signature gathered and signatured must be submitted within the specified window. The period for submitting petitions in lieu of the filing fee is 5/31/2019 to 7/25/2019.
