Description

The Wyoming Treasurer is an elected, executive position in the Wyoming state government. The treasurer is the state banker, responsible for keeping a detailed record of all withdrawals from and deposits to the state's accounts. The treasurer is the chief banking officer of the state. They are responsible for receiving and investing all state funds and administering both the unclaimed property program and the CollegeInvest Wyoming Program. The treasurer serves on the following boards and commissioners: State Loan and Investment Board; Board of Land Commissioners; State Building Commission; Wyoming Community Development Authority; Board of Deposits; State Canvassing Board; Wyoming Retirement System Board of Directors. The Wyoming State Code outlines the specific duties of the treasurer: "The state treasurer shall: Receive and keep all monies of the state not required by law to be received and kept by another state official; Pay all warrants duly and legally issued by the auditor so long as there are in his hands funds sufficient to pay the warrants; Keep a just, true and comprehensive account of all money received and disbursed; Have general responsibility for the management of state cash resources, including developing information in conjunction with the state auditor, to forecast the cash needs of the state." The salary for this position is $92,000/year.

Obtain the correct candidacy filing paperwork. 2) Complete the required candidacy paperwork including the appropriate campaign finance forms, and if you plan to run as an independent a petition for nomination. If you plan to run as a partisan candidate please contact your local party office for further instructions as the filing window will differ from the independent candidate filing window. 3) If you plan to run as an independent (“unaffiliated”) candidate, submit the petition for nomination with the stipulated amount of verified signatures to the Wyoming Secretary of State Elections Division by the filing deadline. The amount of required petition for nomination signatures varies by office. The filing deadline for independents is 70 days before the general election.
