Description
The Lieutenant Governor of the State of Iowa is an elected constitutional officer, the second ranking officer of the executive branch and the first officer in line to succeed the Governor of Iowa. The lieutenant governor is popularly elected every four years by a plurality and has no term limit. The lieutenant governor stands ready to succeed the governor in case of death, impeachment, resignation, removal from office or other disability. The lieutenant governor's duties are assigned by the governor. He has such other responsibilities and duties as the governor shall assign. The salary for this position is $103,212/year.
