Description

The County Sheriff-Coroner protects the public by the suppression and prevention of crime, and the reduction of criminal recidivism and performs all mandates of the Office of Sheriff as provided in the U.S constitution and laws of the State of California, including the investigation and enforcement of violations of federal and state laws and local ordinances in a fair and reasonable manner. The Sheriff-Coroner also maintains the county jails and prisoners committed therein as prescribed by law in a fair and humane manner. The Public Administrator is responsible for protecting the decedent's property from waste, loss or theft. They are in charge of making appropriate funeral and burial arrangements, conducting thorough investigations to discover all of the decedent's assets, ensuring all estate benefits are applied for and received according to the decedent's wishes, paying the decedent's bills and taxes and locating persons entitled to inherit from the state. The yearly salary for the Alameda County Sherrif is $267,870.98
