Made of 41 members, the Delaware House of Representatives is the lower house of the Delaware General Assembly. Each member represents a district of approximately 21,901 residents, serving 2 year terms not subject to term limits. The Speaker of the House elected by the majority party caucus presides over the House. The Delaware House has 25 standing committees that range from Agriculture Committee to Veterans Affairs Committee. Primary responsibilities of a Representative include: enacting laws, overseeing programs enacted by the executive branch, holding hearings on policies, allocating funds to pay for the daily workings of the state, and redistricting in collaboration with other Representatives and the Senate. The yearly salary for a senator is $44,541.

Application Guidelines
1) Contact the State of Delaware Department of Elections to confirm that your registered address qualifies you for the position you intend to run for, and that you meet other office specific qualifications. 2) Obtain and complete the candidate forms including Campaign Finance Reporting Forms. If you plan to run as an unaffiliated candidate, you must also circulate a petition to appear on the ballot. If you plan to run as a party candidate please contact your local party headquarters for more information. Party candidate forms and deadlines differ from some unaffiliated candidate forms and deadlines. 3) Collect the stipulated number of signatures between January 1st and July 15th and submit the completed petitions to the State of Delaware Department of Elections.
