Description
Clark County is governed by a seven-member County Commission, elected from geographic districts on a partisan basis for staggered four-year terms. Commissioners biennially elect a chairperson who serves as the Commission's presiding officer and appoint a county manager as its chief executive officer to carry out its policies. The Commission serves as the governing body for the Las Vegas Valley Water District, Clark County Water Reclamation District, University Medical Center of Southern Nevada and other agencies. The Clark County Commission levies local taxes, administers county governmental services such as prisons, courts, public health oversight, property registration, building code enforcement, and public works such as road maintenance. Commissioners earn a yearly salary of approximately $72,000 and also receive benefits.The Commission meets each first Tuesday of the month at 9:05 a.m. and each third Tuesday at 9 a.m. It meets as the Zoning Board on the following Wednesdays at 9 a.m.

1) Contact the Clark County Registrar of Voters to confirm that your registered address qualifies you for the position you intend to run for, that you meet other office specific qualifications and inquire as to if the application has a fee. 2) Arrange for receipt (by picking up in person or picking up at a local community center) Clark County Registrar of Voters. Many times you can speak with an elections administrator in person when picking up filing papers, which is an excellent time to ask any questions with staff. 3) File the application with the Clark County Registrar of Voters between March 7th, 2016 and March 18th, 2016, and you will appear on the ballot.
