Description

The Bay Area Rapid Transit (BART) Board of Directors in comprised of nine members, each of whom represent their respective districts. The Board is charged with overseeing the rapid transit system in the San Francisco Bay Area, which is comprised of over 104 miles of line and 44 stations spread throughout four counties, servicing an average of 422,490 weekday passengers. Current initiatives being pursued by the Board include: improving train and station cleanliness, on-time performance, and implementing a new train control system which will improve the efficiency of the trains. Each Board Member serves a four-year term with no limit on the number of terms served. The salary of this position is $18,037 per year.

If there is any difficulty in connecting with this office, contact the California Secretary of State's Elections Division at (916) 657-2166 or http://www.sos.ca.gov/elections to help obtain the correct contact information for your county elections department. 3) Submit the candidacy papers within the 113-88 day filing window prior to the election. The filing fee is not required for this position, however, there is a fee of $750 for candidate to publish a statement in the Voter Information Pamphlet.
