Description

The Riverside County Treasurer is a state mandated function that is governed by the California Government Code. The Treasurer serves as the chief investment officer with fiduciary responsibility of all funds in the county treasury. The Riverside County Tax Collector is a state mandated function that is governed by the California Revenue & Taxation Code, Government Code, and, the Code of Civil Procedures. The Tax Collector is responsible for the billing and collection of secured, unsecured, supplemental, transient occupancy tax as well as various other special assessments for the county, school and community colleges, and, special districts. The yearly salary of this position is $195,192.

To file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the Riverside County Registrar of Voter's Office at (951) 486-7200 or to verify that your address qualifies for the position and that you meet any other candidacy requirements (for example, living within the district for a specified amount of time prior to the election). Most county elections departments understand that first time candidates may have some additional questions or concerns, and they will answer questions when you are picking up your paperwork, or will allow you to schedule an appointment to speak with someone. We highly recommend making a phone call or stopping by in person during normal business hours. 2) Obtain the appropriate filing papers from the county elections office and complete the paperwork required. After completing this paperwork and filing it with the county elections office of your residence you will then appear on the ballot for the statewide June "Top Two" election, where the top two candidates with the most votes will advance to the November general election; the eventual winner of the November election will be the candidate elected to the office.
