Description

The San Diego County Board of Supervisors is the county legislature. The board operates in a legislative, executive, and quasi-judicial capacity. As a legislative authority, it can pass ordinances for the unincorporated areas (ordinances that affect the whole county, like posting of restaurant ratings, must be ratified by the individual city). As an executive body, it directs the activities of the county departments. As a quasi-judicial body, the Board is the final venue of appeal in the local planning process. All five of those long-term supervisors were Republican, white, and graduates of San Diego State University.

Application Guidelines
To file for this position follow these three simple steps: 1) Contact the San Diego County Registrar of Voters at (858) 565-5800 to verify that your address qualifies for the position. 2) Obtain the correct filing papers from the county elections office. Elections administrators understand that first time candidates may have additional questions, so we suggest asking any additional questions regarding filing for office (like the amount of petition signatures, filing fees, or to double check filing windows/dates). 3) Submit the filing papers within 113-88 days prior to the election, but make sure that these dates are verified with the county elections department! Election deadlines are unforgiving and misunderstanding them will prevent you from appearing on the ballot. If you have any questions, contact the San Diego County Registrar of Voters-Elections Department, which can be reached by phone at (858) 565-5800 or [email protected]
