Description

As the city’s legislative body, the members are responsible for the implementation of programs and services provided by the city. The Council has appointment authority for positions such as City Manager and City Attorney, and also appoints citizens to various advisory committees. The City Council often is responsible for voting on passage of the city's budget, which is normally submitted to the council by the mayor or elected executive official.
