Description

The purpose of the highway commissioner is to plan, direct and coordinate activities of the highway department in their elected area. Commissioners assist in planning long range project plans with highway committees, such as building and repairing roads. It is also common for commissioners to prepare, recommend and monitor the annual department operating budget for repair, maintenance and construction of roads, bridges, road rest areas, department buildings and grounds.

To run for this position you must contact the City Clerk first and be aware that the filing window is one week long, which is 113 days prior to the election to 106 days prior to the election.
