The Chairman of Gwinnett County Commission is responsible for guiding the direction and chairing meetings of the Commission. Unlike other members of the commission, the Chairman is a full-time official who is elected countywide. The County Commission as a whole is responsible for serving as the decision-making body of Gwinnett County. The goals of the county government include providing essential services to residents, using tax revenues as effectively and responsibly as possible, and forming county policy such as adopting a budget and rezoning private property. Other than the Commission Chairman, the four District Commissioners are elected to serve as part-time officials who are elected on a staggered basis for four year terms. The Commission meets on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 2 PM in the Gwinnett Justice and Administration Center.
