Description
The county attorney is the chief prosecutor for the district, representing the government in criminal cases. The attorney investigates crimes, decides whether or not to bring charges against suspects, negotiates plea bargains, and tries cases before juries or judges. The attorney may also serve as legal counsel for the government.
Application Guidelines
If you would like to be included on the ballot for county office, follow these three steps. 1) Contact the county election administrator. The election office can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window.
