Description

The Erie County Clerk of Records has the responsibilities of the clerk of courts, prothonotary, register of wills, and recorder of deeds. This office files and maintains court records, civil (prothonotary) and criminal (clerk of courts), administers estates for those without valid wills (register), and maintains records related to land ownership in the county (recorder).

Application Guidelines
If you would like to be included on the ballot for county office, follow these three steps. 1) Contact the county elections office. The elections office can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window. The filing deadline shown is for third party and independent candidates. Major party candidates must meet earlier deadlines to participate in the primary.
