Description

The surrogate is responsible for the estates of county residents who pass away. The register surrogate the validity of wills, administers estates for those who have no wills, collects inheritance taxes and fees, and maintains related documents. The surrogate is also handles matters related to the guardianship of minors and legally incapacitated people.

Application Guidelines
If you would like to be included on the ballot for county office, follow these three steps. 1) Contact the county elections board. The elections board can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window. The filing deadline shown is for independent candidates. Democratic and Republican Party candidates must meet earlier deadlines to participate in the primary election.
