Calaveras County Coroner-Public Administrator

Description

The coroner-public administrator fulfills the responsibilities of both the coroner, investigating deaths within the county, and the public administrator, managing the estates of those who pass away with no other administrator. As coroner, this office performs autopsies, conducts inquiries, and maintains related records. As public administrator, this office investigates the availability of another administrator, estimates the value of the estate, and handles it according to state law.

Application Guidelines

If you would like to be included on the ballot for county office, follow these three steps. 1) Contact the county elections office. The elections office can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window. All candidates, regardless of party nomination or preference, are nominated in the primary election. If the incumbent does not file for reelection, the deadline will be extended five days for other candidates.
