Description
The commonwealth's attorney is the chief prosecutor for the county, representing the government in criminal cases. The district attorney investigates crimes, decides whether or not to bring charges against suspects, negotiates plea bargains, and tries cases before juries or judges.
Application Guidelines
If you would like to be included on the ballot for county office, follow these three steps. 1) Contact the county general registrar. The registrar’s office can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window. The filing deadline listed is for independent candidates. Candidates who wish to be run as part of a major party must meet earlier deadlines in order to participate in the primary election.Submit application to:
