Description

The county judge is the title of the chair of the board of commissioners in Oregon counties with the county court government structure. The county judge, together with two county commissioners, leads the county government, and most of the judge's duties are related to the board. In some counties, the judge also has jurisdiction over the probate or juvenile courts. There is no requirement that the judge have a legal background or be a member of the bar.

Application Guidelines
If you would like to be included on the ballot for county office, follow these three steps. 1) Contact the county elections officer. The elections officer can provide information about the availability of filing papers and answer questions regarding nominating petitions and other ballot procedures. 2) Arrange to pick up required paperwork. 3) Return your completed paperwork within the designated filing window.
