Description

From a fiduciary standpoint, the Superintendent of Public Instruction is charged with executing various education laws and State Board of Education policies; accurately distributing almost $6 billion in education funding to Arizona's public school system and helping schools comply with the many national and state laws and State Board of Education policies. The state superintendent serves on all statewide public education boards, including First Things First, the Arizona Board of Education, and the Arizona Board of Regents governing bodies which encompass a pre-kindergarten to graduate school scope of education. This unique opportunity allows the state superintendent to develop best practices and strategies which take into account the needs of our children at every stage of the process: from birth to college to the workforce.

Application Guidelines
1) Contact the Arizona Secretary of State's office to confirm that your registered address qualifies you for the position you intend to run for, and that you meet other office specific qualifications. Inquire as to whether the position has a primary election before the general election. 2) Complete the required filing papers and submit the required filing papers to the Arizona Secretary of State's office. The filing papers must be accompanied by candidate nomination petitions. 3) Submit the required filing papers accompanied by candidate nomination petitions between 120 and 90 days prior to the primary election.
